KAPA HAKA STARTING DATES

Kia ora whānau!

We are still trying to determine how we are going to accommodate 170+ students for Kapa Haka this year.

Both Stacey Anderson and Karen Neill have proposed the following plan:

2:00 - 3:00  Mondays     (Junior/Interested in Kapa Haka) Y1 – 8  HALL / P.Arts
Mixture of Junior students and other students of all year groups who are interested in being involved in Kapa Haka but not wanting to compete with the Senior roopu.

1:30 - 3:00     Thursdays    (Senior Performing Roopu) Y5 – 8 only HALL / P.Arts
This group will be a performing roopu who will be preparing for commitments, Polyfests and competitions.   Their rehearsals will include two wananga rehearsals after hours each term.

We will hopefully start next week should the proposal be approved.

Tēna koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa! Ngā mihi o te Tau Hou!

Kia ora whānau!

On Friday, 3 February 2017 we invited our tamariki to register their names if they were interested in joining either the Junior Kapa Haka or Senior Kapa Haka roopu this year.

We had an amazing turn out.  We are currently sitting at 90 students for the Y1-Y4 group and 70 students for our Y5-Y8 group.

As the school is currently making their way through the year group camps.  Therefore,  Kapa Haka will not be starting  for another couple of weeks. This will allow both Stacey Anderson and myself to organise the structure between the two roopu for the year.  We are also trying to accommodate the idea of tutoring 160 students at the same time between the hall and the Performing Arts room on a Thursday afternoon between 1:30 and 3:00pm each week.

PLEASE ensure you become a follower of this blog to keep up to date with our busy year.  >>>>>
